"I like the direction this kid is going in"
“From Then To Now” by the down-to-earth Floco Torres is one hip-hop collection that is full of compelling commodities. What makes this collection so memorable is the fact that Floco places heavy emphasis on the musical and melodic appeal of these tracks. “Sumthin Smooth” stands out because of its beautiful piano work and uncommonly sincere tone. “How You Feel” takes on a faster pace and delivers a very memorable chorus. Furthermore, “Sophistication w/ Sean L” takes on a compelling middle-eastern musical vibe. Lyrically, it is clear that Floco has quite a way with words and rhymes. These tunes are down-to-earth, highly relatable, poetic, and musically gripping. (Explicit)

"Pt.1 was an intro sample so to speak, I wanted anyone that didnt know to understand I have alot of talent and alot to say. Pt.2's purpose is to show people that dont know that I think a little bit differently. (laughs then quickly gets serious) Pt.3 we'll talk about when the time comes.
With his subtle but powerful flow and disregard for others feelings about him, the NEX IN LINE projects are more than just mixtapes. With 2 solo cds out and successful (NIL Pt.1 and From Then To Now), Floco moves onto Pt.2 Another World, the middle and climax of the series. If you havent noticed, the 2 lead singles arent exactly normal. The title track Another World is a story track where everything Floco interacts with is apart of the electronic ipod generation. The song is crazy with a lack of better words. Twilight Zone is broken into 3 parts, a unique opinion about government officials, truthful accusations about the all might $, and the love and hate of the pink panther as he calls is. "Theres only 1 and thats me" is about just what the title says. Floco feels he races to his own beat and you either hop on the bus or hike in the street as he puts it. With a new year ahead, a growing campaign within Williams Enterprises, and Pt.2 set to hit late Feb, the patience and fath in hiself may be about to pay off.

Oh, Floco... Spare the "snippet" and spoil us some more!
This is a brand of rap that I can hack.
Dictionary.com defines music as: "an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color."
Floco certainly has the "rhythm," both musically and lyrically; and I can hear the "harmony" in his chords. "Color?" If this song were being painted on a canvas it could easily be hung anywhere from a tent at an art show to a wall in a big city Museum. And melody? Well... That, to me, is what differentiates a rap song like this from the other 95% of rap that's out there.
I could never really put my finger on it, but now, after playing some of Floco's songs, I know why most "rap music" wasn't getting into my ear the way other music normally could. It's because it wasn't really "music." It lacked "melody," and, therefore, "song." And now, after actually looking up the word, "music," I feel much more confident in saying that what was mostly being called "rap music" wasn't really "music" at all because it lacked "melody." Call it what you will - a poetic form of chant, an urban poem put to rhythm or whatever - it isn't "MUSIC!"
Oh, I'll probably get into trouble for saying that, but I don't really care. It isn't even just "my opinion" any longer. I'm now backed up by a very credible source - the Dictionary!
'Letter To a Model' by Floco Torres is "definitely" a cut above most rap, and maybe Floco knows that. Do you suppose that's why he put it in the R&B category? For me, it's still "rap" no matter how you label it, and I am certainly hearing much more of that category than I am of R&B; but it's rap MUSIC! And it's really GOOD music at that! It's rap that belongs in a "musical category" whereas I don't think the other form - the melody-less form - does)! And the lyrics are really SENSATIONAL too!
I put 'Letter To a Model' right up there at the top along with some of my other favorite rappers (all of whom engage in rap "music") like Suzka, 64oz, J.Rolo, B-Millz, Bojeezy, Hammer and a few others and, of course... the prolific Slo Poke.
"Snippet" or not, this is one rap track that has really caught my attention. But... wow... hey... having said that, I'd sure like to hear more. I was JUST getting into it when it took a sudden nose dive and came in for fade out landing right around the 1 and 1/2 minute mark. Not enough time to really sink your teeth into. (So when do we get to hear the rest of the song, Floco)? Are you just teasing us?... Or just experimenting? If it's the second one, then I think you may have just found a magic formula that really works for an even broader more sophisticated audience!
